ACE Mentor is making a difference in the Architecture, Construction and Engineering worlds
I have had the good fortune to be involved with the ACE Mentor program in some shape or fashion for almost 10 years now. ACE is a national program that introduces the Architecture, Construction and Engineering world in buildings to students in high school. It was started a number of years ago and has flourished in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area for over 10 years.
I first got involved with ACE while working for Smith Seckman Reid, a Consulting Engineering firm based in Nashville. I then had the opportunity to join the board a few years ago and will become the board Vice President and President Elect later this year.
One of the benefits that has touched me personally is to see my younger son go through the program while in high school. His participation led to his enrollment in the Building Science program at Auburn University where he obtained a degree in Building Science. He has worked for Turner Construction since his graduation from Auburn and now works out of the Nashville office.
ACE is a great example of how STEM Education Coalition programs can make a difference in the lives of students in America. The video below is just one of many project examples that are going on all across the country every year.
