The Journey: Growing and Transitioning Your Business
My wife and I took a trip a few weeks ago. We decided to go to the beach to wind down for a few days and we chose to return to a spot we have enjoyed many times for the last 23 years. Before we left home to start the trip, we did some planning and arranging to make sure that we would have a place to stay, a way to get there and back and also took a look at what we might do while at the beach. We had a great time as a result of this planning.
Many small and medium business owners are on a journey also. The ways this journey began are varied for many and the direction they are pursuing, the length of the trip and the level or size of the trip also varies from business to business. What I often see is that many business owners do more planning for their next vacation than they do when it comes to strategically growing or planning for the transition of their business.
You may say that not every business owner wants to grow, but I would respond that businesses either grow, evolve or die. No business I have ever known of or read about ever stayed the same over an extended period of time. People come and go and clients do as well.
